I have reduced the price of this bowl as a special offer for this weekend only. €5 off plus there is free shipping because it is over €85. Take advantage while you can!

This Beech bowl comes from the South of Co. Dublin, I don't know exactly where at this point. It was apparently cut because it was overhanging a property and the size and age of the tree were a huge concern to a property below. I brought the wood from Bray Co.Wicklow and transported the slabs back home to work on.

There was a radiating crack from the pith that extended into this bowl on one side. I decided to remove the cracks and mirror the shape on the opposite side.

This bowl has some beautiful markings including a layer of minerals that the tree brought up from the soil.  This shows up as a jagged red line which encircles the bowl.  The cut wings give the bowl a new and interesting perspectives when viewed from different angles. There was quite a lot of time spent on this bowl and 4 coats of Danish Oil to bring it to finish.

Finish sanded to a highly smooth touch.  For food convenience, it is coated with Hampshire Sheen Food-Safe Danish Oil and burnished to a low lustre shine using very fine wool. See After Care page for details.

Because of the durable finish, this bowl can also just be used for display long term. Please note that washing the bowl will change or diminish the shine on the surface.
