This bowl comes from just outside Beaufort, Killarney Co. Kerry and was blown down in 2017.  I started cutting this tree in place in late 2017 and again in early 2018.  Beech contains a lot of moisture and each log I cut had to be lifted by hand through a boggy field and over a ditch to get to my van.

This bowl had a natural broken knot area which I partially filled to repair.  The choice being fill or carve. It was one of those 'will I or won't I' situations.  The bowl would make a lovely centrepiece on a table. I have reduced the price of the bowl to reflect my indecision.

Finish sanded to a highly smooth touch.  For food convenience, it is coated with Hampshire Sheen Food-Safe Danish Oil and burnished to a low lustre shine using very fine wool. See After Care page for details.

Because of the durable finish, this bowl can also just be used for display long term. Please note that washing the bowl will change or diminish the shine on the surface.
