Working with Irish Hardwood – Unique, Handmade Pieces That Last
This gallery is a mix of finished pieces, work in progress, and the day-to-day reality of life in the workshop. You’ll see everything from completed commissions and market displays to raw wood, shavings, and the process behind each piece.
It’s not just about the final product, it’s about how it’s made.
The gallery doesn’t follow a timeline, it’s more a collection of snapshots taken along the way as the business has grown and changed. See if you can spot the early pieces compared to the more recent ones.

Professional Photoshoot by Stephen Fennelly Photography Tralee
Back in 2019, a student asked to photograph me working in my workshop as part of a college project. These are some of my favourite images from that day.
I should say, I absolutely hate being photographed, so any time you see a picture of me, it took a bit of effort to get me in front of the camera.
At the start it was fairly nerve-wracking having someone photographing me while I worked, but most of it was out of my direct line of sight and I settled into it after a while.
It’s actually very difficult for me to take good photos of my own work. I’m so focused on the turning that I find it hard to step back and see it objectively. I can recognise a good photo when I see one, but capturing it myself is another thing entirely.
The images may seem slightly out of sequence, I was working across three different lathes during the session, making different pieces on each.
