Woodturning Buy & Sell Ireland
Buying or selling second-hand woodturning tools, lathes and workshop equipment in Ireland can be a bit hit and miss. I have been asked many times if I know anyone looking to buy or sell various items, so I thought I would try setting up a simple community page for that purpose.
Good tools are often hard to find, and beginners may not always know what they are looking at. This page is intended as a place for genuine woodturners to list used woodturning equipment, from lathes and chucks to chisels, sharpening systems, grinders, bandsaws and other useful workshop items.
If you are new to woodturning and unsure whether second-hand tools are the right option, you may also want to compare them with the Hamlet woodturning tools I stock and use myself. Buying used can be a good choice, but it helps to understand what different tools are for before spending money.
I will not be handling payments or acting as a dealer for these items. The aim is simply to connect woodturners with other woodturners and give suitable second-hand equipment a better chance of finding a new workshop. Find something you like, contact that seller directly via their supplied contact details contained in their listing.
Listings will be added manually and only where they seem relevant to woodturning. If you have something suitable to sell, please read the rules below first, then contact me with the details and a few clear photos.
Please read the rules below first before contacting me with your listing images and text. It may take a little while for people to find this page so please spread the word and lets gets some old tools new homes.
Important: This page is a woodturning noticeboard, not a marketplace operated by David Condon Woodcraft. Unless an item is clearly marked as being sold directly by me, buyers and sellers deal directly with each other. I do not handle payment, delivery, inspection, guarantees, returns or disputes for third-party listings.

Why I Set Up This Woodturning Buy & Sell Page
Buying or selling second-hand woodturning tools in Ireland can be surprisingly difficult. Good lathes, chucks, gouges, sharpening systems and workshop equipment do come up for sale from time to time, but they are often scattered across general second-hand websites, social media groups, local ads or word of mouth.
That can make things awkward for both buyers and sellers.
Why Buying Used Woodturning Tools Can Be Difficult
For buyers, it can be hard to know what they are looking at. A woodturning lathe may look fine in a photo, but there can be questions about bearings, speed control, bed wear, missing centres, tool rests, banjos, belts, chucks or accessories. The same applies to second-hand woodturning tools. A set of gouges may be excellent value, or it may include worn-out, badly sharpened or unsuitable tools that a beginner will struggle with.
Why Selling Good Woodturning Equipment Can Be Frustrating
For sellers, the problem is different. A good lathe, chuck, grinder or set of quality woodturning tools may be worth far more than a general buyer realises. On broad second-hand sites, useful workshop equipment can get lost among unrelated ads, vague searches and bargain hunters who may not understand the value of proper woodturning gear. A seller may end up fielding poor offers, irrelevant questions or time-wasting messages from people who are not really connected to woodturning.
That is why I wanted to create a more focused place for woodturning buy and sell listings in Ireland.
Why a Dedicated Woodturning Buy & Sell Page Helps
The aim of this page is not to replace DoneDeal, Facebook Marketplace or other second-hand selling sites. Those platforms can still be useful and will always have a much larger reach. The problem is that they are not woodturning-specific. A good second-hand woodturning lathe or a quality set of turning tools can easily be missed by the very people who would appreciate them most.
This page is intended to make things a bit more targeted.
If you are buying, you are looking at items that are more likely to be relevant to woodturning. If you are selling, your listing has a better chance of being seen by people who understand what a lathe, chuck, bowl gouge, spindle gouge, sharpening jig or workshop accessory is actually used for.
Helping Buyers and Sellers Deal More Fairly
A dedicated woodturning buy and sell page should help buyers and sellers meet in a fairer and more informed way. Buyers can ask better questions. Sellers can describe their items properly. And good tools have a better chance of finding their way into another workshop instead of being undervalued, overlooked or left sitting unused.
A Useful Starting Point for Beginners
I also hope this page will help beginners. Many people starting woodturning look for second-hand tools and equipment before they fully understand what they need. Used tools can be a good way to get started, but only if the buyer knows what they are buying. A cheap tool is not always good value if it is unsuitable, unsafe, badly worn or missing important parts.
If you are new to woodturning, take your time. Ask questions. Check condition carefully. Make sure a lathe is suitable for the type of work you want to do. Make sure tools are safe, usable and appropriate. And remember that buying second-hand may still leave you needing extras such as sharpening equipment, sanding supplies, finishes, safety gear, centres, chucks, jaws or tuition.
Better Listings Help Sellers Get a Fairer Price
For sellers, a clear and honest listing helps everyone. Good photos, accurate descriptions, fair pricing and proper details give buyers more confidence and reduce wasted messages. If you are selling a lathe, include the make, model, size, condition, accessories and whether it can be seen running. If you are selling hand tools, include the brand, tool types, condition and clear photos of the cutting ends and handles. If you are selling chucks or accessories, list what jaws, inserts, keys or fittings are included.
The better the listing, the better chance you have of getting a fair price.
Starting Small and Building Over Time
This page is starting small, but I hope it can become a useful resource for woodturners in Ireland over time. I will begin with a few suitable items of my own and may add third-party listings where they are relevant, genuine and clearly connected to woodturning.
The goal is simple: to help good woodturning tools, lathes and workshop equipment find new homes, while giving Irish woodturners a more focused place to buy and sell.
Woodturning Guides & Articles
If you have found this page while looking for second-hand woodturning tools and you are new to woodturning, you may also find my Woodturning Guides & Articles page helpful.
I have written a range of practical posts covering beginner tools, sharpening, safety, wood selection, drying wood, finishes and common questions that come up when people are getting started.
It is a useful place to visit before spending too much money on tools or equipment.
Woodturning Buy & Sell Rules
This page is intended as a simple noticeboard for genuine woodturners looking to buy or sell used woodturning tools, lathes, equipment, blanks and related workshop items in Ireland.
To keep the page useful, fair and safe, the following rules apply.
1. Listings are accepted at my discretion
Not every item submitted will be listed. I may accept, refuse, edit, remove, shorten or extend listings at my discretion.
Items must be genuinely relevant to woodturning, woodworking or the workshop.
2. Sellers must be genuine woodturners or connected to woodturning
To help keep the page trustworthy, I may ask sellers for some basic context before accepting a listing. This could include a social media profile, website, photos of previous work, workshop photos, club connection, or other information showing that the item genuinely relates to woodturning or woodworking.
This is not intended to be awkward, it is simply to protect the page from unsuitable or questionable listings.
3. I do not handle payment or delivery
Unless an item is clearly marked as being sold directly by David Condon Woodcraft, all sales are arranged directly between the buyer and the seller.
I do not handle payment, deposits, collection, delivery, postage, returns or refunds for third-party listings.
4. I do not inspect or guarantee third-party items
I do not inspect, test, value, certify or guarantee third-party items listed on this page.
Buyers should satisfy themselves about the condition, safety, completeness, suitability and price of any item before purchasing. For electrical items, machinery or modified equipment, buyers should consider having the item inspected by a suitably qualified person before completing the purchase or using it.
5. Sellers are responsible for accuracy
Sellers are responsible for providing accurate information, clear photos and fair descriptions.
I may edit listing text for clarity, but the seller remains responsible for the accuracy of the listing.
6. Buyers and sellers deal directly with each other
Any sale, agreement, payment, collection or dispute is strictly between the buyer and seller.
I cannot mediate disputes, chase payments, arrange returns or become involved in disagreements after a sale.
7. Listing details required
To submit an item, please provide:
● Item name
● Brand and model, if known
● Asking price
● Location
● Condition
● What is included
● Collection or postage details
● Contact method
● Up to 4 clear photos
Incomplete listings may not be added.
8. Photos
Please send clear, honest photos of the actual item.
Stock images should not be used unless clearly marked as reference images.
A maximum of 3 to 4 images per item will normally be used.
9. Listing duration
Listings are generally intended to remain live for up to 6 months.
I may remove, extend, refresh or mark listings as sold/expired at my discretion. Sellers should let me know when an item has sold or is no longer available.
10. Sold items
Sold items may remain visible for a period and will be clearly marked as SOLD.
This helps show previous activity on the page and gives visitors an idea of the type of items that may appear here.
11. Unsafe or unsuitable items
I may refuse listings for damaged, modified, incomplete, unsafe or questionable equipment.
Used tools, lathes, grinders and electrical equipment should always be inspected carefully before use.
12. Optional support
I do not charge a listing fee or take commission from sales arranged through this page.
If the page helps you sell an item and you would like to support my small business, you are very welcome to make a purchase from my website whenever you next need woodturning tools, finishes, sanding supplies or craft items. There is no obligation, but it is always appreciated.
13. Photo Permission
By sending photos for a listing, you confirm that you own the images or have permission to use them. You also give David Condon Woodcraft permission to use, resize, crop, edit, compress and display those images on this website in connection with the Woodturning Buy & Sell page. I may also use the images in related blog posts, website content or social media posts connected to woodturning, second-hand tools, buying advice, selling advice or workshop equipment. No payment will be due for this use.
