How about a Hardwood Bookmark to mark where you left off in your book. This Ash piece is sanded to a highly smooth finish and coated with Hampshire Sheen Food & Toy safe Danish Oil.  Very handy small gift for someone at a very reasonable price.
 
I make these out of off-cuts from my other creations. As I've mentioned before, I use everything I possibly can from each piece of wood.
 
These are approximately 7 inches x 2 inches and 1/8'' thick
