Wide Oyster Serving Board from a Tralee Ash Tree.
 
I previously made several Oyster Boards for Croi Restaurant in Tralee.  They found it difficult to serve Oysters in a consistent way.  The idea was to make a board that the Oysters could sit in and retain their juices.  This design is what I came up with after a bit of research.  I sold out the first batch of 7 very quickly and I kept putting off making anymore due to the time consuming process of making them. I finally made myself start the next batch but there will only be a limited number made. This is number 4 of 5.  This board is quarter sawn material and is wider and longer to allow condiments or dips to be served along with Oysters.  It contains a little bit of dark heartwood which really sets off the board.
 
I have another 3 or 4 possible boards earmarked for Oyster Boards but you will have to pre-order those.  Please allow at least 2 weeks for a new board order to be made and the finish fully cure.
 
Ideal for serving Oysters without spilling the juice within. There are 6 Oyster shapes cut out to accommodate your serving needs.  I have chosen approximate shapes and sizes, the Oysters will not match perfectly because each Oyster has a unique shape and size but they will hold them steady and they also look great when the board is empty.  Simply turn the Oysters or select a different cutout if the Oyster rocks.
 
The Oyster cutouts are sanded but still have that rough look and feel to match the exterior of an Oyster Shell.  The rest of the board surface is sanded to a silk finish.
 
The grain has light and dark patches and rippling effects making the board visually stunning.

The board is finish sanded to a smooth touch. For food convenience, it is coated with Hampshire Sheen Food-Safe Danish Oil.  Danish Oil is very durable but a top up coat may be necessary depending on how often you use and wash the serving board. 
 
Please avoid using the board for cutting as it is meant for use as a serving board.
