Extra Large Deep Food-Safe Wooden Bowl – Crafted from Storm-Salvaged Ash
 
A Unique Piece of Nature & Craftsmanship
This extra-large handcrafted bowl comes from a storm-felled ash tree near Beaufort, Co. Kerry. The tree lay in an elevated ditch for over a year before being salvaged. While the lower trunk succumbed to decay, the upper section revealed rich, vibrant colors that only time and nature can create—making this bowl truly one of a kind. I have included an image of the bowl in an armchair & on a four foot table to give you an idea of it's size!
 
Celebrating Natural Imperfections
This bowl tells a story of resilience and craftsmanship. While I was able to preserve most of the upper tree, some small areas of soft grain remain, adding to its natural character. One such spot on the rim created a subtle ripple effect during sanding, something you may notice more by touch than sight. Rather than viewing these as flaws, they highlight the organic beauty of the wood and its journey from tree to table.
 
Elegant Design & Stunning Grain
Featuring an inward-curved, undercut rim, this bowl has an elegant form that enhances the natural frizzy and quilted grain patterns flowing throughout the piece. Ash is my favorite wood to work with, and this particular tree was a challenge—but well worth the effort.

This bowl has been finished with a Danish Oil undercoat and two top coats of Osmo Oil, creating a smooth, food-safe surface. While durable enough for food use, washing may soften the shine. To ensure longevity, aftercare instructions will be included with your purchase.

US & Canada are airmail and are subject to volumetric package measurements. As square boxes are a rarity, you may be paying for empty space in the box.
