I have decided to offer a sharpening service for the new Hamlet Tools that I sell. There is a huge variation of Tools so I have set a middle of the road price for edging each New Tool.
 
Why charge for this service? Most shops sell these Tools for around the same price as I do but you walk away with the factory edge and the onus is on you to sharpen to your own requirements. It costs money to buy the right gear to sharpen Tools and it takes time to do it. Sharpening Wheels also need to be changed when the wheel no longer cuts steel. €2.50 per Tool is not a lot of money if you can't do the job yourself.  
 
Who should use this service? New Woodturners or those who haven't yet purchased a Grinder Sharpening System. I would advise you to buy your own system as soon as possible though and use this service only when you need to. 
 
Can someone with a Grinder order this way? Yes you can but I will be choosing the grind for you and this may not suit your style of Turning. I try to keep close to the Original Factory Grind as much as possible but I sometimes differ. 
 
What if I don't want all my order sharpened? If you order a few Tools together and only want certain ones sharpened you can send me a message after you Checkout and let me know which ones you want to be edged.
 
Want it done for free? No problem, all you have to do is attend a Woodturning Tuition Session with me and preorder your Tools beforehand for pickup on the day. I will edge the Tools as you watch so you can also benefit from the tips and techniques I use myself.

Tool Reshaping & Edge Service
I am also starting a new service for reshaping and sharpening old Woodturning Tools bought elsewhere. These will have to be dropped to me and must be collected by the owner. No shipping will be allowed as I don't want to be responsible for Tools I don't own or sell. Prices will vary depending on the state of the Tools and how much work you want done to them.  Heavy rust should be precleaned by you first before bringing them to me. 
 
As a guide price. A 1/2 inch Spindle Roughing Gouge in fairly good condition with a reshaped bevel and new edge might cost €3.00 to €3.50. This is a very rough estimate and €3.00 would be the minimum service charge for this service.
