This point tool is used to form beads safely in both spindle and faceplate work.
 
It works well in all woods but results are better in close-grained hardwoods and it is especially useful in plastics and resins such as artificial ivory and Corian.

Woodturner's Tip
I find this tool great for the above listed but also for cleaning up detail work in areas where other tools just won't fit. By rotating the tool edge you can get a shearing cut in these areas too.
