This 3/8 inch Spindle Gouge is a great tool for more detailed spindle work.  The GL8 is part of the Glenn Lucas Signature Tool range and it is modified from the standard Hamlet model to Glenn's specifications.  I use these gouges for getting into narrower spaces where the GL7 can't go. They are extremely versatile on sidegrain and also for tidying endgrain on close narrow work.  The toolrest needs to be close to the work to minimise tool vibration.

Woodturner’s Tip:
Some new turners try to save a few euro by buying this lighter tool instead of the ½" GL7—but keep in mind, it’s designed for fine cuts and tight spaces, not for general-purpose work. The GL7 or M42GL7 are far more robust and better suited for everyday turning tasks further off the toolrest.
