Another tool from the Glenn Lucas Signature Hamlet range. a Very versatile tool for refining those curved areas.
 
This scraper is factory ground to a 33/66 degree angle. Made from high speed steel and measures ¼” thickness X ¾” wide. It is one of the safest, user friendly scrapers that you can use. It will refine a small radius internal curve of a bowl or platter.  Can be used to refine curves in box lids and other concave surfaces. Made by Hamlet in Sheffield to Glenn Lucas's specifications it is a firm favourite with students in his class room.
 
Made from M2 Steel.
Handle - Beech.
Width - 3/4".
Length of Handle - 10".  Overall steel and handle length =16 3/4'' approx.

Woodturner's Tip
This tool cuts using a raised burr from grinding and must be sharpened briefly and often to maintain the burr cutting edge.  The rule of thumb is use the tool to refine a curved area and then give it a quick grind to create a new burr before using the tool once more.  Never push the metal of this tool into the wood, instead let the burr do the cutting!  The shavings should be very fine when sharp; if not, go and resharpen!
