Used for creating a precise tenon/spigot at the bottom of a bowl or platter, so it can be held securely in the dovetail jaws of your chuck. Will also work for spindle pieces when getting them ready to mount in a 4 jaw chuck.
Scrapers like this tool cut using a raised burr and they must be sharpened more frequently. Make sure to check the cutting angles against your chuck jaws so you have the correct shape of dovetail tenon/spigot. I normally sharpen after using the tool once or twice depending on the hardness of the wood. Remember; the raised burr does the cutting and not the steel of the tool itself!

For years I have been shopping online for tools only to find a single grainy far away photo that does not show the tools for what they are. I have decided to add more images of this product to make your choice easier.
