These are the smaller 4 inch Chestnut Buffing Wheels, designed for use with the Chestnut Buffing System and suitable for polishing a wide range of woodturned items.
 
The wheels can be used with Chestnut Large mandrels, which are sold separately. Polishing compounds and waxes are also available separately.
 
Which Wheel Should I Use?
Wheel A
Use with Chestnut Compound 1 for the initial preparatory cutback.
Wheel B
Use with Chestnut Compound 2 to produce an ultra-fine surface before the final waxing stage.
Wheel C
Use for the final polish with Carnauba Wax Stick, Microcrystalline Wax or Microcrystalline Wax Stick.
 
A buffing system is an excellent addition to a woodturner’s workshop and can make a noticeable difference to the final quality of a finished piece. Used correctly, these wheels can produce a very smooth surface and a high-quality shine that can be difficult to achieve by hand polishing alone.
 
I use buffing systems regularly in my own workshop and find them particularly useful when I want to bring a finished piece up to a higher standard of polish.
 
Safety
Always take care when using any buffing wheel system. Loose items can catch quickly on a rotating wheel, so maintain a secure grip on the workpiece and always wear an approved face shield.
