Handcrafted Irish Wood Pen – A Thoughtful Gift for Any Occasion
Bring a piece of Ireland’s natural beauty to your desk or gift box with this elegant handcrafted Irish Spalted Beech wood pen. Each pen is turned by hand in my Tralee, Co. Kerry workshop, using locally sourced hardwoods full of unique character and grain. The Sirocco design is solid and weighty in the hand — a step above lighter slimline models, offering a more substantial feel. This particular piece was sourced just outside Listowel Co Kerry.

The Pen Finish
I’ve finished this pen with two coats of Osmo Oil — the same durable, food-safe finish I use on my bowls — for a smooth, low-lustre feel and look. I also added an overcoat of microcrystalline wax as added protection. Although I used the Osmo Satin version, there’s a subtle sheen to the surface rather than a high gloss, which I personally prefer. It brings out the grain beautifully without making the wood look overly polished or plastic, while still allowing the wood to feel like real wood in your hand.

How to Change the Ink Refill
To change the ink refill, simply unscrew the section tip — this is the piece where the nib appears. Remove the old refill, keeping the spring safe. Fit the new ink refill with the spring in place, then screw the section tip back on securely.
I plan to offer a range of good-quality replacement refills here soon, so you can keep your pen writing beautifully for years to come.
