Handcrafted Irish Hardwood Jewellery Dish – Spalted Beech 🌿
Keep your favourite rings, cufflinks, earrings or small keepsakes safe in style with this handcrafted Irish hardwood jewellery dish. Compact enough for a bedside locker, dressing table, bathroom shelf or hallway table, it is a practical little piece of woodcraft with plenty of natural character.
 
The Wood 🌿
This jewellery dish is made from Spalted Beech sourced in County Galway.
 
I make these square dishes from off-cuts from larger woodworking projects, which helps reduce waste in the workshop while turning smaller pieces of good Irish wood into useful handmade gift items.
 
Spalted Beech is a striking wood with rich natural markings, dark spalting lines and plenty of character. This piece also has subtle red mineral veins running through the grain, giving it even more visual interest.
 
Every piece reveals its own natural patterns, making each dish unique.
 
Each dish is made and finished by hand in my workshop in Tralee, Co. Kerry.
 
Design & Finish
At the centre of the dish sits a turned cradle, shaped on the lathe. This can be used to hold rings securely or simply act as an elegant focal point for the piece.
 
The square shape gives the dish a clean, simple look while still allowing the natural Irish hardwood to remain the main feature.
 
Each dish is finished by hand and fitted with four small protective feet to lift the wood slightly from the surface and help protect furniture.
