This 2 Hour approx Group Experience is designed for tourists, couples, families, friends etc who want to try something different.
I can take a maximum of 4 for this one. Personally, I find the Ornament Making Experience may be a better option for people to do but this is a fun close second budget option for guests. Many people find that turning the cylinder is fun to do but more challenging than they imagined.
Description
Looking for something different to do? How about learning to turn a basic cylindrical shape in a real Woodturner's Workshop setting? A simple basic piece but not that easy to do.
Woodturning is a very skillful and challenging craft and it might be the only time in your life that you try it and what better place to try it than while on vacation in South West Ireland.
We will start with a quick look at some of my finished pieces and then I will show you my dry store where new pieces are waiting to be finished. We then take a very brief tour of my wood drying areas & workshops as I explain some of my processes.
Your blank pieces will be ready to turn as we get into the main workshop. These will be basic cylinders turned and hopefully sanded (not bowls or anything complicated). If you want to do more, you will have to arrange a proper lesson. I have Woodturning Tuition Options that might suit.
New Ornament Option

I came up with this variation recently which I am now making it part of this Experience. At some point during the rounding of the blank, I will create a dovetail so that a piece can be made from your blank. I will turn a tea
