American White Ash Pen Blanks Set of 4
A small batch of American White Ash pen blanks, cut from offcuts and leftover wood from stock I have bought for other workshop projects.
These blanks are a practical way of using good wood that might otherwise go to waste. I like to make sure that every piece, including small leftovers, can still have a purpose. They are suitable for single-body pens, split-body pens, keyrings, small handles and other compact woodturning projects.
Each pack contains 4 pieces, measuring approximately 150mm or longer x 25mm x 25mm. Standard pen blanks are usually around 20mm x 20mm, but I have cut these slightly oversized to give extra room for trimming, drilling and adjustment.
Ash can look quite pale when freshly cut, but that is part of its natural character. Once turned, sanded and finished, it can develop a beautiful warmer honey colour over time. I have included a photo of a finished Ash pen to show the kind of result that may be possible, although every blank will vary naturally in grain, tone and figure.
As these blanks are cut individually from real wood, the cuts may not be perfectly straight or identical. Minor saw marks or surface marks may be visible, but these should turn away during normal preparation.

For best results, sand smoothly through the grits before applying your chosen finish. Ash is pale when freshly cut, but it can develop a warmer tone depending on the finish used.
