Beaufort Beech Pen Blank Pack

A small batch of Beech pen blanks, cut from wood sourced in Beaufort, Co. Kerry.

Beech is a pale, close-grained hardwood that can work well for clean, simple handmade pens and other small turned projects. These blanks are suitable for single-body pens, split-body pens, keyrings, small handles and other compact woodturning projects.

Each pack contains 4 pieces, bandsaw cut and cleaned up with a sanding machine. The blanks measure approximately 150mm or longer x 25mm x 25mm.

Standard pen blanks are usually around 20mm x 20mm, but I have cut these slightly oversized to give extra room for trimming, drilling and adjustment.

As these blanks are cut individually from real Irish wood, the cuts may not be perfectly straight or identical. Minor saw marks, surface marks or slight variation between pieces may be visible, but these should turn away during normal preparation.

For best results, use sharp tools, sand smoothly through the grits and apply your chosen finish. Beech usually gives a clean, understated look, making it a good choice for simple, practical handmade pens.
