Crafted from a rare burl section, this bowl is covered in delicate burl dots, adding incredible texture and depth to the grain. I’ve highlighted these features in the photos to showcase their natural beauty and uniqueness.
Salvaged from Storm-Felled Wood
This bowl has a rich history, originating from a Beech tree near Beaufort, Killarney, Co. Kerry, which was brought down by a storm in 2017. I carefully salvaged the upper part of the tree in late 2017 and the lower trunk in early 2018, carrying each log by hand through rough terrain to preserve its integrity.
Smooth & Food-Safe Finish
Sanded to a smooth touch, this bowl is finished with a Hampshire Sheen Danish oil undercoat and a top coat of Osmo Oil, ensuring a food-safe surface while enhancing the wood’s natural luster.
