I am offering private one to one sessions for students of all abilities. Please choose the option that suits you best. If paying for someone else; if you think the recipient will only be available to do Saturday Tuition then please choose the Saturday Session option.
 
Tuition is based around my Calendar schedule so get in touch with an available date that suits you and I will book your session. 
 
Tuition Content
Students can bring their own requests but here's a list of topics I can give a brief introduction to:
Wood drying and selection
Safety instruction
Lathes, Tools and sharpening equipment
Turning will be between centres or in a 4 jaw chuck depending on your ability.
You can take your project piece home.
 
You will be instructed using professional tools and professional lathes.
You will be given safety gear (Visors, dust masks etc) to use during the class.
Wood will be provided and you can take your project away at the end
 
Benefits of Attending my Woodturning Tuition?
I specialise in low Teacher to Student ratio so you will always have my attention for the full duration of the class. Other Woodturners may host classes of 4 to 8 students so if you get stuck, they may not have time to bring you along.
 
Most Woodturning courses teach you some theory and get you to make something during the day. I focus mainly on advising which tools & equipment to buy so that you can get started in the best possible way. I then move on to proper tool sharpening and tool presentation so that you are always safe while Turning and cut in the most efficient way. Defined projects can come later but they shouldn't be your focus if you are just starting out. We will Turn some basic pieces and if you prove to be more capable, I will take you further.
 
Finally, my classes start at 3 hours and I find that this shorter duration suits people better than full day courses. A full day is very tiring for most people. You can also choose extra hours with me or come along for 3 hours over several days or weeks if you prefer.
 
If you are just starting out or have been Turning for a while unguided, my Woodturning Tuition will set you on the right track, save you money long term and keep you safe. For more experienced Students, I can help you iron out issues you may be having.
 
Students who have asthma or alergies to dust, please take advice first before booking a class. You probably already know what you can and can't be around. 
Please wear old clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dusty and dirty.
 
All advice on safety must be strictly adhered to on the day.
