🥗 A Handcrafted Ash Bowl with Character
This beautifully crafted Irish Ash bowl makes a striking centrepiece and is ideal for holding fruit, snacks, or simply displaying its natural charm. With its clean lines, undercut rim, and even wall thickness, it feels great in the hand and looks stunning on any table. 
 
🌳 A Tree Saved from Firewood
This shallow-medium bowl was crafted from an Ash tree in Tralee, Co. Kerry, originally felled to make way for a new development. Thankfully, I was able to rescue part of the tree before it was turned into firewood.
 
Ash is my favourite wood to turn, and this tree held special meaning—it grew in Oakpark, the very area I used to live in. That local connection adds a layer of nostalgia and pride to this piece.
 
🛠️ Character Preserved – Knot Repair with Epoxy
I always strive to preserve the natural story of each piece, even when small defects appear. This bowl features a repaired knot, filled with dark reddish epoxy to stabilise the area while keeping the organic beauty visible and appear as the original knot. Rather than discard a beautiful piece over a minor imperfection, I chose to highlight its character and give it a second life. It’s these small touches that make handcrafted work so unique. 🌾 Beautiful Grain & Durable Finish
Ash often features distinct, flowing grain, and this bowl is no exception. It’s been finish sanded to a silky-smooth touch, then sealed with an undercoat of Hampshire Sheen Food-Safe Danish Oil and a protective Osmo Oil topcoat. This durable finish allows for both practical use and long-term display. 
 
🧼 Washing & Maintenance
While this bowl is finished with food-safe products, I can't say that it is recommended for use with salads or wet foods due to the carefully repaired knot. The finish offers some moisture protection, but I can’t guarantee how the repair will hold up over time with repeated washing. I’ve applied a discount in the hope that someone will appreciate and give this piece a good home. Of course, you’re free to decide how you use it—but please be mindful of its handmade nature and long-term care.
